Why we built Braid
We're Chris and Mikayla — married about six years, and Braid started as something we built for the two of us. Between work and everyday life, it's easy to drift into logistics-only conversations, so we wanted an easy way to actually stay connected: a daily question to answer together, a shared journal, a place to plan date nights, and a running record of our life together.
Braid is that — built by us, for us, and now for you too.

Frequently asked questions
How do we link our accounts together?
One of you generates an invite code from the dashboard, and the other enters it under "I have a code." Once you're linked, nearly everything becomes shared — calendar, journal, photos, daily and weekly questions, milestones, bucket list, love notes, and more. The one deliberate exception is gift ideas you're saving for your partner, which stay private so the surprise isn't spoiled.
Do we have to link accounts to use Braid?
Yes — Braid is built for the two of you, not for solo use. Everything opens up once you're linked, so the first thing you'll do after signing up is create or enter an invite code to connect with your partner.
I forgot my password. What do I do?
On the login screen, tap "Forgot password," enter the email you signed up with, and we'll send a reset code. For security, resetting your password signs you out on every device.
Who can see what we share in Braid?
Only the two of you. Your journal entries, photos, and answers are private to your linked account — we don't sell your data or show it to anyone else.
Can I edit or cancel a love note I scheduled?
Yes — tap the pencil icon on any note you've scheduled that hasn't unlocked yet, to change the message, the unlock date, or whether it's sealed or a surprise. You can also cancel it outright from there, so your partner never sees it — handy if whatever it was tied to didn't end up happening.
Can I add a location to a Timeline entry?
Yes — when adding or editing a Timeline entry, tap "Add location" to drop a pin for where it happened, with a map to fine-tune the exact spot. It's entirely optional; tap any entry afterward to see its full details, including the map if one's set.
Why does my dashboard ask when we got together?
That date powers the "years, months, days together" count on your dashboard — separate from whenever you happened to link your accounts in the app. You can set or correct it any time from Settings.
We live in different time zones — whose does Braid use?
One shared timezone for you both, set from Settings — it's what decides when your daily question, journal, and weekly check-in reset for the day. Set it to whichever one makes the most sense for you two.
How do streaks work?
There are two separate streaks — one for the daily question, one for the journal — and each only counts a day if both of you complete that activity, not just one. They're tracked independently, so keeping up your daily question streak doesn't protect your journal streak, or the other way around. A streak only breaks once a full day passes with either of you missing it — it won't count against you the moment you wake up, so there's no need to rush before your coffee.
There's a lot in the More tab — can I hide what I don't use?
Yes — Settings → More Menu, then toggle off anything you don't need. It disappears from your More tab right away. It's just your own view, so it won't change what your partner sees on theirs.
Can we unlink without deleting our accounts?
Yes — Settings → Unlink from partner disconnects you both without deleting anything. Your journal, photos, milestones, and everything else stays exactly as it is, and if you two link back up again later, all of it is still there waiting for you.
How do I delete my account?
Settings → Delete account. If you're linked with a partner, this unlinks you both — your partner keeps their account, but you'll no longer be connected. Everything you personally added (journal entries, photos, love notes, all of it) is permanently deleted, not kept — the only thing that survives is content your partner created themselves. If they delete their account too, nothing from your shared history remains.
I'm not getting push notifications — what do I check?
Braid asks for notification permission once, early on — normally while you're waiting for your partner to join. If you skip it there, you'll get one more chance at the end of onboarding; already said no? Go to Settings and tap "Open Settings" to flip it on in iOS itself.
Is Braid coming to Android?
Yes — iOS is our current focus, with Android on the way.
I found a bug, or have an idea for a feature. Who do I tell?
